Jim Cathey, former Qualcomm Chief Commercial Officer, joins Memories.ai's advisory board

Memories.ai today announced that Jim Cathey has joined the company’s advisory board. Cathey spent over three decades building and scaling global technology businesses, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer of Qualcomm Technologies, where he led the company’s global commercial organization — sales, business development, carrier partnerships, and distribution — across some of its fastest-growing markets in Asia, Japan, and India.

Why this matters

Memories.ai is building the visual memory layer for physical intelligence — the layer that lets machines understand the physical world before they can act in it. Cameras already run everywhere: on factory floors, in warehouses, on construction sites, in logistics networks. Memories.ai turns that footage into structured, persistent memory that a model can learn from and recall, the way a person recalls their own experience. Getting that memory layer onto every device and every platform is a commercial and partnership problem as much as a technical one. That’s the gap Cathey’s background speaks to directly: over his career he built multi-billion-dollar partnerships across wireless, semiconductors, and display technology, and turned deep, complex technology into commercial scale for some of the largest platforms in the industry.

Cathey joined Qualcomm in 2006 and held a series of senior leadership roles, including President of Global Business, President of Qualcomm Technologies’ Asia Pacific and India operations, and country manager in Taiwan. Before Qualcomm, he was an executive at Micron Technology and MicroDisplay, and led Investor Relations at PixTech. He holds seventeen patents, sits on the board of directors at CTIA, and earned his BBA in Marketing from Boise State University.
